CANNABIS 101

Meet Cannabis. A beautiful medicinal plant whose true healing wonders are just starting to be known. What we know so far is that its many parts and constituents aid in everything from anxiety to physical pain management to incredible skincare benefits and beautifying properties. Continue reading to learn more about the different components that make up this long misunderstood Green Goddess of the plant world.

CBD

This non-psychoactive cannabinoid affects the physical, not the cerebral, and is used in skincare to directly soothe distressed complexions and restore them to their natural bliss. When applied topically, calming CBD delivers homeostasis to the skin and aids in the absorption of other nourishing phytonutrients, like potent Ashwagandha and Tumeric root. CBD is present in Emerald CBD Oil, not in Emerald Hemp Seed Oil.

HEMP

Hemp is a variety of cannabis that includes less than .3% THC. The seeds of the hemp plant are incredibly rich in Omega fatty acids and reparative Gamma Linolenic acids to nourish and restore the skin. When pressed into a non-comedogenic oil, the formula deeply moisturizes the complexion, soothes visible redness and irritation and prevents visible signs of aging. Hemp Seed Oil (also known as Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil) is a key ingredient in Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil.

CANNABINOIDS

Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds that make up the cannabis plant and are responsible for the variety of physical and mental effects that cannabis can have on the body and mind. Cannabinoids work with the human endocannabinoid system, and with each other, to orchestrate a truly individual high that affects all of your physiological processes.

There are over 113 unique cannabinoids, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD) being the most well-known and studied. Only time and research will reveal the unique properties of the rest.

THC

The most highly concentrated cannabinoid, THC is associated with the psychoactive effects of cannabis and impacts the chemical receptors in the brain and nervous systems that control mood, appetite, memory, pain sensations, and psychoactive perception. THC is not present in either Emerald Oil.

TERPENES

Scientists have identified over 200 terpene varieties in cannabis. Terpenes determine the strain’s aroma. They have powerful aromatherapy and mind-calming benefits. Terpenes are present in hemp-derived Cannabis Essential Oil, which is a key ingredient in Emerald. Steam distilled from the leaves and flowers of the Cannabis Sativa plant, this gentle, skin-loving essential oil promotes feelings of tranquility and relaxation. Inhale deeply and enjoy.
